Rural Community Programs

Did You Know We Have Programs in 10 Communities?

We have Club programs running in 10 communities! We are in Lindsay, Dunsford, Omemee, Kirkfield, Little Britain, Woodville, Manvers, Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon and Coboconk. We have a variety of programs running in our rural communities outside Lindsay that serve approximately 1200 kids including after school, summer camps and sports programs (ball hockey, soccer, basketball). The sports programs are all low cost and subsidized for those facing financial struggles making these programs available to kids who might not otherwise have access to these kinds of activities locally.
In addition, we have been able to employ young people locally to run these programs and have a great contingent of volunteers that live in these areas to support the programs.
These programs are highly valued and families are grateful that they can access these opportunities for their children right in their own communities.
The Foundation invites corporate sponsors, friends or family members in these communities who might be interested in supporting the continuation of these programs in our rural areas to contact the Foundation to find out more details on how you can make a difference or you can make a donation here.

What Are Families Saying About Our Rural Community Programs?
I am writing to share my accolades for the After School Program in Kirkfield which is a rural outreach of the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes. I am very pleased with this program. The staff and supervisors are always welcoming and friendly when I come through the door. They bring me peace of mind to know that my children are being looked after in a safe, healthy and supportive environment. They have worked with the bus drivers and St. John’s Catholic Elementary School to ensure children’s safe arrival which is key when I am working an hour commute away. I am thankful for the extra set of eyes that can view my children through a developmental lens and offer me insight on my children’s social skill development in a less structured environment than the daytime school setting. I am grateful for the reinforcement that they provide in helping my children grow and develop both physically, socially and emotionally. The supervisor is always willing to share information regarding my children’s participation and behaviour that day. They also take the time to listen to my input, insights and perspective. We work together to ensure the same messages are being conveyed to my children and I feel that they offer a very enriching and stimulating program that is child-centred and top-notch. I am so pleased with the program that it would be great to have an extension of the Kirkfield program to offer a Before School Program as well! Thank you again for all your hard work and for all that you do for my children and the children of Lady Mackenzie Public School and St. John’s Catholic Elementary School.

“My daughter loves the programs offered with the Boys & Girls Club. Being in a rural area it is difficult to find quality programs close by. The Club has been a blessing by allowing my daughter to participate in quality programs that are cost effective. She is able to socialize with other kids her age in a safe and nurturing environent. As a working parent I know she is safe and well cared for in the after school and summer camp programs. She adores the sports programs as well as it being a place for parents to meet up weekly to talk to other parents about their kids and catch up on each other’s lives. The Boys & Girls Clubs is a necessity in our area as without it the kids would not have any other options in the community. We love the Club!”
