The Jump Start program is a community-based charitable program designed to help kids aged 4-18 participate in sports and recreation such as hockey, gymnastics, soccer, dance and swimming so they can develop important life skills, self-esteem and confidence.
JumpStart is national in scope but local in focus, Canadian Tire Jumpstart® delivers support to children in financial need through a Canadian-wide network of local chapters. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes is one of three local chapters that processes applications for Boys and Girls Club programs and community sports and recreation programs. In addition the Lindsay Gymnastics Centre and the City of Kawartha Lakes Parks & Recreation processes applications for their programs. Applications for Lindsay Gymnastics or City of Kawartha Lakes Parks & Recreation programs must be submitted directly to them.
Jump Start accepts applications during two sessions throughout the year: January 15 to June 15 & July 1 to November 15.
You may only submit one request per child per session, up to a total of two submissions per year. Each child can receive up to $300 per session with the average being $100.
Children can access up to $500 for hockey programs through the Online application process called BIG PLAY. See below for application details and links.
